The scrapbook (1914) which forms this collection was assembled by Baltimore judge, Emory Hamilton Niles. Many of the items in the scrapbook are in German and reflect a brief but historically significant few months (July to November) leading up to World War I in 1914. Klara Hechtenberg Collitz was born in Germany at Rheydt in Rhenish Prussia on May 30, 1863.
